This may not be a word that you are familiar with. This is because we think we made it up. We were looking for a word to describe how we operate. We try not to take initiatives that compete with or occupy space that others are using. Instead we aim to work in mutual support and co-operation with others of similar heart and vision wherever possible. If we can’t find anyone doing what needs to be done we start, and then connect with others en route when we find them.
This has been the history of most of our initiatives. They belong to the body of Christ, not to us and we aim to let go of them as soon as they are an integral part of its thinking and working. For this reason we are careful about naming things and owning things while taking the responsibility to follow what we believe to be a heavenly vision seriously.
We are convinced that the past twelve years has been a very important period for making and completing initiatives, not just for us but for the whole body of Christ and work of the kingdom of God. This season came to an end in January 2006. For this reason most of our past co-initiatives are in transition or completion and new ones are embryonic.
